Following the ruling of a Brazilian court ordering Netflix to stop showing The First Temptation Of Christ, a movie which depicts Jesus as gay, a Brazil Supreme Court has overturned the order.
The Head of the Supreme Court, Judge Antonio Diaz Toffoli, rejected the ruling of Rio de Janeiro judge Benedicto Abicair with claims that the movie is not in any way insulting to Christians.
Recall that Christians nationwide have signed a petition to get the movie deleted by Netflix. Netflix, however, appealed Abicair’s ruling, as reported by AFP. According to AFP, the Toffoli noted that the movie cannot weaken the values of Christian which has been in existence over 2000 years.
“One cannot suppose that a humorous satire has the ability to weaken the values of the Christian faith, whose existence is traced back more than two thousand years, and which is the belief of the majority of Brazilian citizens“, Judge Antonio Diaz Toffoli reportedly said.
