Olusegun Falola, one of the lawyers of Nigerian activist and Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has spoken on why the activist was initially chained by Beninese security agents, saying it is as a measure to cage his transformation and disappearance power.
Recall that Sunday Igboho, who is currently arrested in Benin, is said to have so much traditional powers, especially as he was said to be seen at different times wearing some traditional protective ensembles, once under his clothes. KOKO TV reported that his cleric Idris Oladejo affirmed that he has the power to disappear from custody but didn’t as he had to put his wife and family into consideration.Confirming this further in an interview with TheNation newspaper, Olusegun Falola said that Igboho was chained to prevent him from disappearing mysteriously. According to him, Beninese security agents were told that Igboho could turn into a cat and escape. “When I arrived from Paris and got to the custody where Igboho was detained, he was first chained. They were scared that he could just disappear into the thin air because of his mystical powers.”

Adding that his timely intervention led to the officers unchaining Igboho, he said, “the police told me that if Igboho’s chains were untied and he escaped mysteriously, he (the police officer) would be stripped of his rank and also dismissed. The police officer said he was told that Igboho could disappear or turn into a cat, and many other things were said to the police officers which made them tie him”, he said.
