Anthonia Okokon is an economist who is passionate about everything relating to fashion and style. She owns a blog (diveintomauve.com) where she dishes out exceptional fashion tips that will ease your daily style struggle. On this edition of My Style, she talks about her diverse style, style icon and more.

How would you describe your style?
I don’t quite have the one word to describe my style as I see my style as an infusion of different things. Some days, I’m chic, others, vintage and yet others I’m casual or preppy. I think my mood dictates what I wear for the most part.
Who (and what) inspired your fashion style?
I’m not sure what as I my style isn’t entirely modelled after one person but I must say that Rihanna inspires me a lot.

Who is your fashion, beauty and style icon?
Rihanna! Lol! What I love the most about her is that she is unapologetic with her style. She also exudes a wealth of confidence that is rare to come by.
What was your style like as a teen – Non-existent?
When I was a teenager, I wore male clothes and wore no makeup. I remember my mum used to bribe me to dress up and wear accessories. I’m not sure when the turnaround in my style happened but I am mighty glad it did.

What is your make-up bag essential?
Foundation and concealer. When you struggle with spots like I do, they become a part and parcel of you.
What’s your shoe of choice? Heels? Wedge? Platform? Flatties?
Definitely heels. I love that they can take an outfit from drab to stylish in a minute.
You have the hardest time getting dressed for?
Work! Mostly because I can’t be expressive with my style as I love to be. One I showed up at work in a pair of tribal palazzos that were so fancy, everyone kept asking me if I had a date after work.
What accessory is it that you cannot live without?
Wrist watches. I don’t know why but my wrists feel empty whenever I am not wearing one. It doesn’t even have to be a working one.

How long do you spend doing your make-up yourself?
Probably five minutes because my makeup is awfully basic. Foundation, brows and eye liner and I’m good to go.
On weekends, you’re most often spotted wearing?
Nothing! Lol! I can’t be in clothes all week and still dress up for the weekends.
Which living person do you most admire, and why?
My mum! She is amazing. I know everyone thinks their mum is amazing but really, my mum is the amazingest!
What’s the cheapest and most expensive thing in your make-up bag?
Not sure to be honest. Most of my makeup items are gifts. I wouldn’t know expensive or cheap even if it smacked me in the face.
Lucky number and favourite colour?
My lucky number is 7 and my favourite color is purple at the moment.

What are your favourite sunglasses?
I don’t wear any. Lol.
What is your best style advice?
Just be you. Be fabulous but be you!
What are your opinions on cosmetic surgery?
If you can afford it, why the hell not!
