The best part is that having a rough patch is completely normal and seasonal. And that is why they say marriages and relationships take time and work.
To overcome this speed bump that has become an obstacle in your relationship, here are a few things you can do to steer your relationship back to happiness:

Take some time out: When communication seems not to be working, instead of dwelling on the problem it may be a good idea to take a break from the situation and let things cool off. Leave your partner to think and analyze the situation without your interference by giving them the space they need.

It may not feel right at first especially if you’re the type of person who likes to talk things out immediately, but it is the best thing to do at this moment. However, this shouldn’t go on for too long or you will soon become accustomed to living without each other further straining the relationship.
Listen: Sometimes all you want to do after being hurt or disappointed is to spill every feeling and emotion. This however does not always end well. In an attempt to be heard you may worsen the situation.

Instead, listen to what your partner has to say first. Learn to open your ears before opening your mouth and it will serve you well. This may save you from wasting time and going in circles because chances are, your partner may already know what the problem is and they have a solution to it.

Communicate: The fastest way to lose interest in a relationship is by swiping your emotions under the rag. You both have to speak up to be heard.
Ignoring and wishing problems away will only lead to built-up of frustrations, dissatisfaction and lack of trust. The only way your partner will know what’s bothering you is through communication. And no matter how sensitive the issue may be, stay calm and don’t be carried away by your emotions.

Rekindle the fire: It is important to show your partner some love and appreciation especially during turbulent times. You may want to stay wounded but that doesn’t mean you have stopped loving them.
Remind them why they fell in love with you by doing something nice for them. It doesn’t have to cost much or be extravagant. Something like getting them a cup of coffee in the morning because you know how grumpy they get without caffeine will act as a sweet gesture and before you know it, all will be well.

Hold on to good memories: Things have not always been bad and there is a perfectly good reason why you chose to be with your partner. Use this chance to reflect on those things that brought you together rather than on what is setting you apart. Staying in that negative state will only lead to resentment.
