Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirms the Netflix series is getting a second season after much speculation. The Korean series became a huge hit worldwide, raking in 111 million fans just 17 days after its debut on September 17.
The nine-episode series became Netflix’s biggest series ever and the first to surpass 100 million views. Hwang did not give a date for season two’s premiere. “I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen,” he said. “So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back. He will do something for the world.” “So, there’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season.
So I almost feel like you leave us no choice,” creator Hwang Dong-hyuk said. “But, I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen.”
