Spanish Court Cuts Jail Sentence Of King’s Brother-in-law

The Spanish political community were reminded of the fact that few people are actually above the law, when the king’s brother in-law, Inaki Urdangarin, had his prison sentence reduced from over 6 years to 5 years and 10 months.
The Spainish Supreme Court on Tuesday reduced Mr. Inaki’s jail sentence for charges including tax fraud and embezzlement after Inaki’s legal team lodged an appeal.

Mr. Inaki was found guilty and sentenced to six years and three months in February 2017 for using royal connections to overcharge regional governments through public contracts to host sports and tourist events. He was also charged for tax fraud.
He was sentenced to jail by a provincial Mallorcan court after a six-year investigation into his fraudulent activities.
