Southampton Fire Manager Nathan Jones

Southampton, on Sunday, fired their manager, Nathan Jones. Jones’ sack comes less than 24 hours after their 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

The Premier League club also sacked first-team coaches, Chris Cohen, and Alan Sheeha.

The club made this known in a statement via its website.

The statement read, “Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with Men’s First Team Manager Nathan Jones. “First Team Coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan have also left the club.

“First team lead Coach Rubén Sellés will take charge of training and prepare the team ahead of next weekend’s game against Chelsea.”

In related news, EPL Champions Manchester City might lose their long standing Manager, Joseph Guardiola, if the FA sanction the club.

Manchester City was reported earlier to have been charged with 101 breaches of financial regulations since the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, with the punishment a long way from being decided.

Reacting to questions on the development from reporters on Friday, February 10, Guardiola stated that while he feels they’ve already been condemned even though prosecutors are yet to prove the charges, he still believes they are “innocent until proven guilty”. He also express his displeasure over the fact that his club has been castigated without concrete evidence to suggest whether the charges are true or not.
