Sit-At-Home: One Killed, Five Tricycles, Two Cars Burnt In Enugu

One person has been killed, two vehicles and five tricycles have been burnt in Enugu State by gunmen who were trying to enforce the sit-at-home order.

The tragic incident happened around 5:30 am on Monday at the Liberty Bus stop, Abakpa in Enugu East Local Government Area.

Two vehicles and five tricycles also known as Keke were burnt by the hoodlums. It was reported that the sit-at-home order was gradually being ignored by residents in the southeast.

The incident sent fear to the spine of residents which made businesses shut but reopened later in the day.

The gunmen were also at the popular T-junction in the same Abakpa area where they reportedly burnt the driver inside the car after the driver refused to step out if the car. It was reported that the hoodlums opened the gas tank firing a shot into it to burn the man alive.

An eyewitness said: “They (the insurgents) stopped the man and commanded him to step out of the car, the man resisted, and that made the gunmen open the fuel door, and shot into the tank making the car to go up in flames with the man inside.”
