Sierra Leone Music Legend, Janka Nabay Is Dead

The Sierra Leone entertainment community was thrown into mourning yesterday after stories of Ahmed Janka Nabay death went viral. Janka died in his house in the Northern Sierra Leonean district of Kambia, at the age of 54.
The late Janka, who was also known as the King of Bubu Music, played the traditional music of the Temne people, who dominate the northern region of the West African country. During his times, Janka thrilled his audience with his religious based music style while playing the traditional bamboo flutes.
Nabay and his awesome band made the Bubu music popular in Brooklyn and Manhattan in the United States.
