The Presidency has disclosed that it recovered at least ₦143. 89 billion from corrupt government officials through the implementation of the Whistle Blower anti-graft policy.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), The Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA) made the announcement through its audit report on Sunday at the Federal Capital Territory.
The report revealed that the Federal government had successfully recovered nothing less than ₦7.8 billion, $378 million and 27,800 pounds sterling from several corrupt government officials in the country through the whistle blower policy.
According to the report, since the policy was introduced in 2016 to fight financial crimes and corruption, PICA has received 8,373 tips, of which 1,231 tips were based on financial crimes. It further revealed that the Federal Government was able to investigate 791 corruption cases, of which 534 were successfully completed.
