A lot of women mark their 60th birthday with a party for friends and family – but former glamour model Linda Lusardi is not most women. So she has decided to celebrate the milestone by peeling off her clothes once more.Nearly four decades since she first went topless, Linda declares: “I still look sexy at 60 and my husband thinks so too – he reckons I’m the best thing since sliced bread.” The Londoner became a household name in England in the Seventies and Eighties, and in 2005 was voted the UK’s most popular Page Three girl ever. She says being so famous for her figure used to make her feel awkward about her “lumps and bumps” as she aged — but no longer. The mum-of-two says: “Up until I turned 50 I was wary of the fact I had cellulite and flabby bits here and there. I’d hide it all away. Now I’m turning 60, I think, ‘I know I’ve got those things but I still look all right for 60’, so I don’t care any more. I will wear a bikini in the garden and on holiday but won’t go topless on the beach – just in case someone recognises me and takes a picture!” She reckons other women her age, however, should go for it, announcing: “Why should life be tailored to age? If you feel like going on a topless beach when you’re 60, why shouldn’t you? I’m really proud to be turning 60 next month and I get lots of nice comments. I don’t try to hide my age.”Linda still has the 24in waist she had when she was discovered by a modelling scout at a bus stop aged 18, and says the only place she ever puts on weight is on her “boobs and bum”.She says: “It makes it look like I’m tied up in the middle”. In fact, she is still nearly the same weight as she was in her heyday – 8st 10lb now compared to 8st 4lb. But she says: “You’re either lucky or you’re not. Nature’s been good to me. I’ve never had cosmetic surgery, apart from trying Botox once – and I couldn’t move my forehead.”Linda believes she inherited her youthful looks from her Italian dad Nello, who died last October aged 87. She explains: “My dad used to be mistaken for my boyfriend sometimes. When I was 20 and he was about 50, he didn’t look his age. I was devastated when he died. He left a huge hole in my life.” Despite being ten years older than her second husband, actor Sam Kane, 49, Linda has never been mistaken for anything other than his partner. They have two children, singer Lucy, 21, and actor son Jack, 16.And she credits Sam, who has featured alongside her during various panto runs, with keeping her young and fit – especially in the bedroom. She says: “I used to worry about the age difference, but nobody has ever said to him, ‘Your wife looks old’. If I was married to someone ten years older I wouldn’t be so savvy on computers.”And with a meaningful look she adds: “He keeps me fit that way, too. He’s still a virile young man.” She says: “I’d get up in the morning and I would completely forget how I got home. I wasn’t into drugs but I did drink a lot.” All the partying and her career meant she put off becoming a mum until her late thirties – but she hopes daughter Lucy is quicker on this front as she wants to be a gran.Linda says: “I hope she doesn’t wait as long as I did as I’ll be 80! I had her at 39 and Jack at 44, but I’ve been a better parent being older. I’d been there and done it.” And if she does become a grandma, that will not put her off posing in her underwear again to mark her 70th. She adds: “You never know — if I still feel good, why not?”Photo Credit: Getty
