Sex Is For Straight Married Couples Only – Church of England

The Church of England has enjoined straight partners to stay off sex if they are not married while criticising same-sex marriage and sex among same-sex partners.
In a statement issued today by the House of Bishops, led by the Most Reverend Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the changes in marriage law were addressed by the Church of England for the first time.Sex Is For Straight Married Couples Only", Church of England Preaches Abstinence
According to the statement, marriage is a faithful, committed, permanent and legally sanctioned relationship between a man and a woman making a public commitment to each other and at such, civil partners should be treated sensitively and pastorally. Stating further, the bishops noted that civil marriage (between opposite sex) is central to the stability and health of human society and it continues to provide the best context for the sexual activity and raising children.

With opposite-sex civil partnerships, and with those for same-sex couples, the Church’s teaching on sexual ethics remains unchanged. For Christians, marriage – that is the lifelong union between a man and a woman, contracted with the making of vows – remains the proper context for sexual activity“, part of the statement reads.
