The defeat meant Inter Milan saw their hopes of closing the gap at the top of the table to  12points with Napoli leading with 15points.

Inter Milan failed to take their chances when Argentine Striker, Lautaro Martinez failed to convert from the spot and saw the penalty saved by Spezia goalkeeper, Bartlomiej Dragowski, 15 minutes into the game.

When Martinez finally beat Dragowski in the second half, the goal was ruled for an offside.

Spezia however, took the lead after 55 minutes when Nzola battled through on the right to play a pass to Maldini, who blasted in a low shot into the net.

Inter fought back when defender, Denzel Dumfries won a penalty with seven minutes left on the clock with Romelu Lukaku calmly slotting it into the net.

Dumfries returned the favour after he tripped Viktor Kovalenko in his area to give away a penalty four minutes after their leveler.

Nzola calmly converted the spot kick to put Spezia back in control of the game with 3 minutes left to play.

Inter’s second consecutive away defeat means Napoli can go 18 points clear with a victory over sixth-placed Atalanta on Saturday.
