Lawmakers Call For The Sack Or Resignation Of Pantami, Gbajabiamila Blocks The Motion

House of Rep member Ndudi Elumelu representing Aniocha North/South, made a call to action during plenary today Wednesday, April 21, at the National Assembly, urging the House to demand the resignation or sack of the Federal Minister Of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami for his previous empathetic stance of the activities of Islamic Insurgency and terrorist sect Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The Minister Of Communication and Digital Economy has been under fire over the last two weeks for his previously held support for the extremist Islamist sect and Jihadist group selling a narrative in one of his preachings that he prays that the Taliban and the Al-Qaeda stay victorious in the extremist insurgency battles.

During plenary in the House on Wednesday, April 21, Elumelu raised the notion that a point of order to demand that the House Of Reps acts on the issue. Making a significant call for the Minister should either resign or be sacked from his role.

Isa Pantami and Abike Dabiri-Erewa fightThough this call of action was quickly jettisoned by the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, who however, quickly overruled the Minority Leader. Though the Speaker did state that Elumelu’s motion is noted, saying Elumelu came under the matter and the matter being raised had nothing to do with his privilege as a lawmaker.

“Your point of order is noted,” Gbajabiamila said and hit the gavel.

The plenary has since moved to other items on the House’ agenda.
