The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, November 25 asked its committee on Independent National Electoral Commission to screen former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu for the position of the head of the National Electoral body for another five-year tenure. 
President Muhammadu Buhari had sent a request to the Senate to confirm Professor Mahmood Yakubu and reappointed as INEC chairman.
Senate president, Ahmed Lawan, during plenary on Wednesday, gave senator Kabiru Gaya-led INEC panel a week to screen the Professor of History and submit its report within one week.
Prof. Yakubu would be screened along with Professor Abdullahi Abdu Zuru who had been appointed as the National Commissioner in the agency
