The Black Entertainment (BET) awards was held last night, June 23rd with many Black stars bagging the much-coveted award. The event, which was the 19th annual BET awards ceremony was hosted by Regina Hall and was aired live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Many big stars were nominated at the show, with Cardi B bagging seven nominations, including that of best female hip hop artist, best collaboration, video of the year, album of the year and the viewers’ choice award. She was among the winners on Sunday night, taking home album of the year for ‘Invasion of Privacy’, and best female hip-hop artist. The singer also opened the night with a performance from her and her husband, Offset. Tyler Perry was honored with the Ultimate Icon Award and he gave a powerful speech to that effect. There was also an amazing performance from Mary J. Blige after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Rapper Nipsey Hussle was also honored posthumously with the Humanitarian Award.Best international act
