See The Controversial Meaning To Youtube’s Most Watched Video, ‘Despacito’

We are used to singing along to our favourite songs on the radio, embracing the lyrics and occasionally getting all the feels. However, every now and again a song comes along that garners so much love, but whose meaning is unknown. ‘Despacito’ is exactly that song, due to 90% of the song being sung in Spanish, although hearing Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s remix, its is one of internet’s fave things right now. But do you know what the lyrics actually mean in English?Well, according to the translation from Spanish to English, the lyrics include things like, ‘Slowly, I want to breathe your neck slowly’, ‘I want to strip you off with kisses slowly, Sign the walls of your labyrinth, And make your whole body a manuscript’ and the brilliant, ‘We will do it on the beach in Puerto Rico, Till the waves scream dear lord, So that my seal stays with you. Hence, we conclude that the song is about having sex – but slowly! A little bit cringe in the English language but the question is if you’ll still be singing along knowing what the words actually mean?Even Justin Beiber has recently been in the spotlight for blatantly not knowing the words to the track. The word despacito translates to ‘slowly’ in English, but this appears to be the only Spanish lyric he knows, as a video has emerged revealing footage of the singer going ‘Blah blah blah’ instead.

Despacito has also faced many controversies as Malaysia banned the song on state radio and television, and branded it “unislamic porn”. The most streamed song in history will no longer be played on any of the government run media outlets in the country although the remix isn’t affected.
