Raheem Shaquille Sterling (born 8 December 1994) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger and attacking midfielder for Premier League club Manchester City and the England national team. Born in Jamaica, Sterling moved to London at the age of five and began his career at Queens Park Rangers before signing for Liverpool in 2010. In July 2015, following a lengthy dispute over a new contract, he was signed by Manchester City in a transfer potentially worth £49 million, the highest transfer fee ever paid for an English player. He then went on to help Manchester City win the Premier League in 2018. Sterling made his senior debut for England in November 2012 after previously being capped by England youth teams at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels. He was chosen in England’s squads for the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups and UEFA Euro 2016. 

Recently Raheem Sterling has become a leading voice in the fight against racism, taking on the media accusing the media of wrong presentation and depiction of an average black sportsman and more specifically professional footballers. Sterling was racially abused at a Chelsea versus Manchester City at Stamford bridge where cameras caught the about 4 Chelsea Fans hurling racial derogatory insults at Raheem Sterling as he went to pick up the ball for his side for a corner kick, Last month Euro 2020 Qualifiers Where England took on Montenegro, Raheem Sterling, Danny Rose and Chelsea’s youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi were racially abused in the same game Sterling Scored a goal and celebrated by making a stance of defiance by cusping is ears at the Montenegrian supporters. Just a week ago he threw is support behind Juventus youngster Moise Kean who was racially abused but was blamed by his teammate Leonardo Bonucci for provoking the racial abuse he received from Cagliari Fans, Sterling posted on his Instagram page saying Bonucci’s statement was laughable.

Raheem Sterling won the EPL last season with Manchester City Under Pep Guardiola. He, his currently having one of his most prolific seasons yet in his career with 19 goals in all competition for Man City with the Season yet to be over, With Manc city competing in 4 competitions you definitely should expect more goals from Raheem this season. Raheem Sterling has also been touted as one the players to win PFA player of the season by Plaudits for his exploits this season for Manchester City.
