The management of Italian luxury brand, Versace, revealed that the brand is dumping fur designs permanently, in an attempt to preserve the lives of fur-producing animals all over the world.
In an interview with The Economist, the artistic director of the brand, Donatella Versace, said: “Fur? I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion.”
According to the company’s announcement, this decision was made to preserve the lives of animals and to take a more sustainable, conscious and environment-savvy approach moving forward. The brand has already started applying the initiative to all its outlets, as the plan is reflected in a new London boutique that is LEED certified.
