Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid a visit to the Shoprite Malls in Lagos which were looted by Nigerians in retaliation to the reported xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The 54-year-old Governor took to the microblogging site to announce his visit in a series of tweet while pledging tha this administration will bring the arrested looters to book. Recall that the Lagos State Government had condemned the attack on Shoprite Malls, noting that the act is against the spirit of accommodation and benevolence that the country is known for.
Sanwo-Olu noted in his tweet that the destructive acts are condemned and should not have taken place under any circumstance, emphasizing that Lagos is a home for all. He wrote, “To get on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the unfortunate incident of reprisal attacks in Lagos during the week, I visited the malls today. I condemn wanton destruction of private businesses under any guise. This is not who we are as a people. Lagos is home to all.
He then pledged that his administration will encourage investments and that such acts will not occur again in the State. Government will continue to encourage investment. I want to assure us all that this will not happen again. Arrested culprits will be prosecuted as an effective deterrent.“See more photos from the video below:
