Veteran Nigerian Gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, in a chat with Saturday Beats, talked about Nigerian gospel songs and its place in the world music industry.
According to Sammie Okposo who is part of the star-studded cast headlining this year’s Unusual Praise music festival taking place soon, Nigerian gospel artistes are usually treated as royals abroad because of the rich blend of Nigerian gospel songs.
The ‘wellu-wellu’ crooner said;
“I have been to many countries around the world and it is always so special to see the way they accept Nigerian gospel songs. They treat us like kings and queens because of the message in our songs and how they glorify the name of God.
For me, this goes to show how relevant our songs are and how people want to associate with the way Nigerians praise God.
Therefore, this year’s Unusual Praise is going to be another great avenue to sell our mode of worship to the world and ultimately glorify our creator in a truly special way.”
