The 12th edition of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) will hold this weekend at the exotic Sun City luxury resort in the North West Province of South Africa, and as expected, the event will attract the attention of A-list celebrities across the continent.
This year’s edition of the event:
1. Will be hosted by Thando Thabethe and Phat Joe: The TV queen,Thando Thabethe, will be joined upstage by the seasoned TV host, Phat Joe.
2. Will run from the 22nd to the 24th of March: Tonight’s segment of the event is dedicated to the presentation of awards to the non-fiction categories. Friday night is scheduled for fiction categories, and The main ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, will round off the event.
3. Will be broadcasted on DSTV: The three day event will be televised on DSTV channel 192
4. The Awards: In the 2018 edition, a total of 348 nominees went through a deeply-examined judging process. To stand a chance to walk away with an award. The award ceremony has a total of 79 categories and 262 judges which are presided over by two judges, Firdoze Bulbulia and Thembi Mtshali-Jones. 79 awards will be handed out in the three day event.
5. Will feature a star-studded red-carpet: Popular media personalities, Kuli Roberts and Rorisang Thandekiso will be host the red carpet of the event.
