Russian President, Vladmir Putin has said there is no chance of gay marriage ever being passed into law or legalized in the country.
He made this known while speaking with a state commission on the changes to the nation’s constitution.
He said he will not allow the traditional place of mother and father to be ‘subverted’ by “parent number 1” and “parent number 2”.
Speaking, the 67 year old said “As far as ‘parent number 1’ and ‘parent number 2’ goes, I’ve already spoken publicly about this and I’ll repeat it again: as long as I’m president this will not happen. There will be dad and mum.”
Putin also suggested a referendum on amendment of the country’s constitution to ensure an increase in the powers of parliament while keeping a functioning presidential system.
He said “I consider it necessary to conduct a vote by the country’s citizens on an entire package of proposed amendments to the country’s constitution.”
