The Super Eagles of Nigeria held a much needed crackdown meeting on Monday night as hope to turn around their shambolic world cup form ahead of their most important fixture against Iceland on Friday.
The Eagles placed themselves at a huge disadvantage last week Tuesday, when they lost by a two goal margin to Croatia, courtesy of an own goal by Oghenekaro Etebo and a silly 18-yard tackle which in turn gifted the Croatians with a penalty kick.
A Punch correspondent in the Eagles camp revealed that the players are set to launch a last ditch effort to rekindle the football happiness of the general Nigerian community. The correspondent said: “The players reviewed their performances in the match against Croatia and resolved to hold talks with the coach before the game.”
Several big names like Ndidi, Iwobi and Victor Moses might eventually end up on the bench in the dreaded second group stage march against Iceland.
