Belgium and Inter Milan’s striker Romelu Lukaku has been awarded the player of the year in the Italian Serie A. The striker played a vital role in the success of the Nezazurri as they won their 19th Italian title.
His exceptional contribution was salient enough to trigger Antonio Conte’s side to win the league for the first time in 11 years ending Juventus dominance on the domestic scene.
Inter Milan signed Romelu from Manchester United in 2019 for a fee of around 73 million euros and the Belgian ace has proved his worth since he joined the Nezazurri.
However, Lukaku’s superb performance as a striker and a team player earned him stats of scoring 24 league goals and 11 assists in 36 appearances in the league. He also finished as the second-highest goalscorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 29 goals for Juventus.
The humble Belgian was quick to appreciate his teammates and coaching staff by thanking them on social media for winning the player of the year award on Monday 31st of May 2021.
