If you’re looking forward to watching Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s son grow up, just know that we’ll likely be watching him get bigger from afar in the Caribbean.
The new parents have no plans of raising their son in the United States and instead choosing to raise him in Rihanna’s native home of Barbados. But A$AP Rocky is not a stranger to the Caribbean himself. He may have grown up in Harlem, New York but the rapper and fashion mogul himself is of Barbadian descent.

The new parents, who welcomed their newborn baby on May 13, are planning to head back to Los Angeles for a few months before moving back to the Caribbean. Sources familiar with the couple’s decision told the publication Mirror that Rihanna is choosing to raise her son in Barbados because she loved growing up there.

She wants to give her baby the same experience she had … away from the world of showbusiness,” the source stated. “Both her and ASAP’s family are in Barbados, so the couple are planning to move there in a few months’ time.” Rihanna grew up in Barbados’ capital city of Bridgetown. In 2013, she reportedly purchased a more than $17 million dollar home and a staff that includes a private chef and a chauffeur.
