Red Devils! This Is The Reason David De Gea And Anthony Martial Won’t Sign New Manchester United Contract

Manchester United risk losing both David De Gea and Anthony Martial on a free transfer due to the huge wages they handed Alexis Sanchez in January. Both players have just one year left on their contracts at Old Trafford, though the Red Devils have the option of triggering a 12-month extension. However, according to the new media reports, United are understood to be struggling to agree terms with the duo with their agents using Sanchez’s salary as a starting point in negotiations. The ex-Arsenal ace banks £400,000-a-week at the Theatre of Dreams, while he also pockets £75,000 every time he enters the field of play. As a result, the United players believe they are entitled to increased wages, with De Gea seeking £300,000-a-week due to his status as the world’s best goalkeeper. The 27-year-old – who has won the club’s Player of the Year award four times – currently earns £175,000-a-week. Martial – who recently rejected a contract offer from United – is on £70,000-a-week, but United are prepared to double his salary. Jose Mourinho is desperate to tie the 22-year-old down to a new deal following his recent purple patch in front of goal in which he has netted five times in as many games. Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be long-term admirers of the French international, while the Old Lady are also keen on De Gea.Photo Credit: Getty
