Real Madrid will test Premier League champions Manchester City’s resolve with a sensational offer of Gareth Bale plus £70million for Raheem Sterling, according to media reports.
England forward Sterling has developed into one of the best players in the world since joining City from Liverpool in 2015 and enjoyed a stunning start to the season.
Scoring 17 goals in 19 games for club and country, Sterling has helped City impress both domestically and in Europe and starred in three England victories. Real Madrid expressed interest in signing Sterling last year and in the summer and Sky Sports say representatives from the Spanish club will travel to watch the City star in action for England next month.
The La Liga heavyweights are keen to secure a deal for the 24-year-old, with Los Blancos President Florentino Perez fearful that his £150m valuation will soar even higher over the next 12 months. In order to tempt City to sell one of their prize assets, Real Madrid will reportedly offer £70m plus Bale as makeweight in a sensational deal.
Wales superstar Bale has won a number of trophies at the Bernabeu but is again at risk of being frozen out by returning manager Zinedine Zidane. The 30-year-old has not featured for Madrid in over a month but City are not believed to be interested in bringing him back to the Premier League.
