Real Madrid Striker Mariano Diaz Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Real Madrid and Dominican Republic striker Mariano Diaz has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, casting doubts over his involvement in his team’s Uefa Champions League tie against Manchester City on August 8.  Mariano Diaz

Real Madrid medical team carried out tests on the team on Monday, July 27 and confirmed Mariano had tested positive though the striker is in “perfect health”, he would be self-isolating at home.

Real Madrid, trail EPL side Man City 2-1 from the UCL last-16 clash at Bernabeu before the UCK was suspended due to Coronavirus pandemic, the 2 teams are set to lock horns for the return leg of the tie at the Etihad August 8.

The Spanish club announced in a statement, “After the COVID-19 tests carried out individually on our first-team yesterday by the Real Madrid Medical Services, our player Mariano Diaz has given a positive result.

“The player is in perfect health and complying with the sanitary isolation protocol at home.”
