Reactions As Dangote Cement ‘Sacks’ Over 3,000 Staff

Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has set the internet on fire as his one of his companies Dangote Cement reportedly sacks over 3,000 staff members.
In a letter dated 17th June which surfaced on social media and has now gone viral, it was seen that the sacked staff are to stop work on Friday 19th June.Reactions As Dangote Cement Reportedly Sacks Over 3,000 StaffThe reason for the sack was not stated, however, the company promised to pay full basic salary to the affected staff. Sahara Reporters reported that a source in the company noted that  the staff were made to work full time despite the lockdown and COVID-19 restrictions placed on all businesses.

The mass retrenchment seems not to be a new story with the cement company. Recall that Dangote Cement had in 2017 forced about 800 staff to collect sack letters with the help of the police.
