Rapist To Get Life Imprisonment In Osun State

Osun State House of Assembly in a proactive move has passed a new bill into law recommending life imprisonment for rapist caught in the state. Osun State

The Speaker of the Osun State Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, who disclosed this to the public also stated that a 14-year jail term now awaits anyone who is caught in an attempted rape case in the state.

He also said the passage of the bill into law was to help curb the spate of rape cases that had become increasingly rampant in the state. According to him, the bill has passed through the evaluation public hearing stage and would now be considered by the House Committee before it is passed for the final reading for approval.

Hon. Timothy Owoeye said the bill would charge the law enforcement agencies to prosecute rape cases logically. He also admonished the youths in the state to desist from the ugly practice.
