I Was Raped Daily, Had 3 Abortions – Woman Recounts Ordeal At Illegal Kwara Rehab Centre

Olaide Arikewuyo, one of the 107 people rescued from an illegal rehab centre by the Kwara State Police Command has opened up on her ordeals while was at the rehab.
Recall that the Police revealed yesterday that a rehabilitation centre, named Sumuratu Mumeen Arabic Centre, Gaa-Odota Area in Ilorin was uncovered and discovered to be illegal. According to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, the command acted on an intelligence surveillance and raided the centre only to find out that 103 males and 5 females were unlawfully detained in the centre. While speaking to the Police, Laide revealed that she had spent five years in the rehab centre and was sexually abused every night by the rehab owner. She revealed further that she was living with him in his apartment and has been raped at different times by five different men. She also explained that she got pregnant and was made to abort the pregnancies three times.
“I am living with the owner of the centre in their apartment and the uncle used to have carnal knowledge of me every night. Since I have nobody to turn to and it is not easy to escape from there, I have been abused by five men. In the process, I got impregnated and had three abortions. Speaking on how the victims of the rehab centre got there, the CP said, “Some of the victims were observed to be have some forms of infections and diseases and were not treated while some others were mentally ill. Some of them during the interview claim they were brought to the centre by their parents.” He added that investigation was ongoing and that the police command would take care of the victims until their parents come to fetch them.
