Rainstorm Renders Many Homeless, Destroyed Properties Worth Millions In Ondo

Rainstorm have been destroyed properties worth millions of naira in some parts of Akure, the Ondo State capital and some other towns in the state.

According to reports, the heavy downpour which happened on Tuesday brought about the rainstorm that  wrecked several buildings in lots of communities.

This came some days after the similar incident happened in Ilara Mokin community, Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.

The rainstorm wrecked untold havoc in arears such as Danjuma, Ayedun, High school,  and Leo Area all in Akure. The storm was also said to have destroyed houses, shops, schools, electric poles, maternity center, church, in Ore town in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Although no life was reported lost in the incident, the affected residents have started counting their loses in millions. Few of them who spoke with newsmen made a call to the federal and state governments to assist them in mitigating the effect of the natural disaster.

One of the victims, Mrs Musa Kadijat described the incident as a calamity for herself and her tenants, appealing to government for possible assistance.

“A network mast of an old generational bank fell on our roof and destroyed it. All my tenants cannot sleep in their rooms because of the rain.

Similarly, another victim,  Mr Samson Olayemi, noted that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

” I don’t know what to say than to appeal to the state and federal governments to help , the loss is too much for me to bear. I need assistance,” he appealed.
