Qatar 2022 World Cup Will Be My Last – Cristiano Ronaldo

Portuguese football living legend and international football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be his last international competition to partake in. Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano left a tonne of his fans in despair with this announcement, as they already gear up for football without the Portuguese great no longer gracing the TV screens and taking to the green.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who took part in Portugal’s goalless draw yesterday in Europe Nations League 2020-21 group stage against World Champions France. Cristiano Ronaldo led his Portuguese national team to lift the inaugural UEFA Nations league in 2019.

Though the 5 ballon D’Or winner just like his arch-rival is yet to win the FIFA World Cup, his best run in the competition came in 2006, he made it to the semi-final with Portugal in his first appearance at the competition. 

Ronaldo has just 7 goals from 17 appearances at the FIFA World Cup till date. He scored his highest haul of 4 at the 2018 competition in Russia. Ronaldo is currently the highest national-team goalscorer for both Portugal and in Europe with 101 international goals for Portugal.

If Portugal qualifies for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Juventus footballer will be 37 years old, however, Cristiano Ronaldo has now revealed he will retire after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

When asked when he was going to retire, the player said: “the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be my last”.
