Brazilian international and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar Jr has revealed that will be retiring from international football after the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup, stating his reason for early retirement to be loss of mental strength to deal with the demands of football.
The PSG star had told DAZN in an interview that he was unsure of his mental capacity to handle the stress and pressure that comes with playing at the highest level of the sport.

He said, “I think it’s my last World Cup. I see it as my last because I don’t know if I have the strength of mind to deal with football anymore.”
Although seen as the frontman of Brazil’s national team, Neymar has been on the receiving end of negative comments from the Brazilain fans.

In July, Neymar and Seleção lost Copa America to Lionel Messi’s Argentina, which brought more criticism to him.
The 29-year-old has made 116 appearances for Brazil, scoring 69 goals, and now promised to give his all in his possible swan song in Qatar.
He said, “I’ll do everything to turn up well, do everything to win with my country, to realise my greatest dream since I was little. And I hope I can do it.”
