President Macron “Touched” By Portrait Painted By 11-Year-Old Nigerian

President Emmanuel Macron says he’s touched by the surprise gift he got in Lagos.

An eleven-year-old boy, Kareem Olamilekan, painted a portrait of Macron on canvas in just two hours, during the launching of African Cultural season on Tuesday night at the Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos. In a video Macron shared on his Twitter page which showed him patting the little boy on the back, he wrote: “Very touched. Congratulations to this young boy.”

Singer Banky W who hosted the event along with Kenturah King, introduced Olamilekan to the cheering audience before Macron was presented with the painting in the presence of Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. Macron also became the first President to enter the Shrine, over 15 years after Macron first visited the venue during his internship in the country. “The Shrine is an iconic cultural hub,” Macron admitted. “And I say with a lot of humility that I recognize the importance of African culture.”
