The Ochanja market in Onitsha, Anambra State was reportedly still on fire as at 7am today
President Buhari sends out his condolences.
The Ochanja market in Onitsha, which was gutted by fire, destroying properties and claiming lives yesterday October 16, is reportedly still on fire this morning.
A loaded tanker had spilled its content on the road at Upper Iweka Road in Onitsha yesterday, which led to the fire incident. According to eyewitnesses who took to Twitter to give an update of the incident, the fire was not out yet as at 7am, accusing the state government for being unable to provide a fire truck and had to borrow from the Delta State Government. The borrowed fire truck, however, reportedly didn’t have enough water which is why there is still fire at the market this morning. Meanwhile, President Buhari sent out his condolences to victims who lost their loved ones and properties to the fire, calling on the necessary ministeries to urgently address the issue of safety standards in Nigeria.
