Pope Apologises For Slapping Woman Who Touched Him

Pope Francis has apologized for angrily slapping the hand of a woman who held on to and pulled him towards her as he walked through Nativity scene on New Year’s Eve.
In a viral video of the incidence surface online, the Pope was seen walking away from the crowd that had gathered to greet him. He, however, felt uncomfortable when a woman grabbed his arm and was dragging her towards him. Wearing a frown on his face, he slapped her hand angrily and walked away.
The following day, the pontiff apologized for his reaction while giving his annual New Year’s well wishes to the public in St. Peter’s Square, admitting that he had set a bad example. Going off his scripted message which antagonises violence against women, Pope Francis noted that he like many other people, lose his patience many times.

Shortly before beginning his traditional New Year’s Day address, the Pope said he was sorry for smacking a woman’s hand the previous day, to free himself from her grip. “I apologize for the poor example yesterday. He then went further to say praise women and fault any form of violence against them.
Women are sources of life. Yet they are continually insulted, beaten, raped, forced to prostitute themselves and to suppress the life they bear in the womb. Every form of violence inflicted upon a woman is a blasphemy against God, who was born of a woman“, he said. Photos Credit: CNN
