In an extremely rare turn of events, Nigeria’s lead opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, has applauded President Buhari’s government for honouring the late MKO Abiola.
In a press statement released on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP stated that they fully supported any honour done by Nigeria to the late June 12 election winner.
However, the party was swift to hurl a little swipe at the president, when they claimed that President Buhari used the award to pose as a democrat. They also claimed that he is desperately trying to gather votes ahead of the 2019 presidential election.
