Paul Pogba To Reject Improved New Contract Offer From Manchester United

Paul Pogba intends to reject offers from Manchester United to extend his deal at the club, reports say.

The Frenchman pushed for a transfer to Real Madrid this summer, even publicly expressing his desire to leave, but United blocked his attempts to force a move.

United put a mammoth £180million asking price on Pogba and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed after his side’s draw with Southampton the playmaker would be staying at Old Trafford.

The European transfer window closes on 2 September and it was claimed Pogba has now made a decision about his future. United would like Pogba to sign a new long-term deal, with two years left on his current contract.

The Red Devils can activate a further 12 months on that deal, but were hopeful they could convince Pogba to put pen to paper on fresh terms once the transfer speculation subsided. But Pogba will resist attempts from United to negotiate a new contract, as he believes his future is with Real.

Pogba has already given Solskjaer his word he is committed to United for the coming season. United slumped to another disappointing result against Southampton on Saturday and Solskjaer admitted his players weren’t up to scratch in the second half at St Mary’s.

‘I think we as a team after about half-an-hour started giving sloppy balls away and Paul was one of them. He wasn’t any different to anyone else,’ Solskjaer said post-match. ‘We as a team didn’t play well but in the last 20 minutes or half-an-hour, he did create loads for us going forward. Everyone expects everything from him every game, he has to defend, he has to attack, he has to win headers, he has to dribble past people, he has to make passes. That’s just Paul and he’ll thrive on that.’
