Pastor In Police Net For Killing Tenant In Akure

A 56-year-old pastor, Emmanuel Adebayo has been remanded in a correctional centre by an Akure Magistrate Court on Thursday, over the alleged murder of a 50-year-old woman, Toyin Olatunji.

The pastor was arrested by the police in his residence for allegedly killing his tenant as the defendant, Abdulateef Sulaiman told the court that the crime was committed on April 4 at about 3 p.m at No, 14, Moferere Street, Owe-Akala, Akure.

Suleiman said the argument between the duo resulted into the pastor pushing the woman to the floor who went unconscious before finally passing away.

The offence goes against Sections 316 and 310 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo, 2006. The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional custody, pending the issuance from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The defence counsel prayed the court for an adjournment to enable his client file a counter affidavit to the application sought by the prosecutor. Magistrate Tope Aladejana ordered the remand of the defendant  in Olokuta Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till April 27, for ruling.
