A zoom meeting involving parents and an ex-teacher of Dowen college has gone viral on social media. The meeting which had a number of parents saw them discuss the unfortunate incident of Slyvester Omoroni a student of the school who was bullied and beaten which eventually led to his death.
In the video, a man shared that he was an ex-counselor in the school for years and the bullying by students was what led to his resignation from the school. He noted that the school is not built for boarding houses as little or no attention is paid to the students. A parent of the school who was also in attendance narrated how her son was bullied in the school as he was made to kneel down in the middle of the room with a suitcase on his head and the seniors circled around him.
She shared that the housemasters who she named in the video do not pay attention to the students as the students withdraw heavy sums of money and spend lavishly without any attention. She further shared that the children in the girl’s hostel are protected due to a housemistress who does due diligence ensuring that no one is bullied in Dowen college. The mother who was in tears as she spoke said it is unfortunate that a student had to die for everyone to come out and speak and she has been in severe pain because it could have been her son as well.
