Toke Makinwa has shared her thoughts on parenting and is of the opinion that a lot of parents didn’t know better about certain things while raising their children. She explained that parents were dealing with issues of adulthood while also raising their kids so they took out their frustrations unknowingly on their kids.
In a lengthy thread shared on social media, she explained that the parents normalized abuse without knowing it and the effects still affect a lot of people today. Toke mentioned that a lot of parents were raised in harsh conditions so they raised their kids like that thinking they are life lessons for them.

Most parents raised as they were raised, normalized child abuse without even knowing it was abuse, took the frustration of their times on the kids at home cos they didn’t know any better, the effect of those things they casually did, how they spoke harshly, affects many still.
