#PantamiResign Continues To Trend As Calls For Minister’s Resignation Intensifies

The calls for by Nigerians on social media for the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami to resign as a Minister of the Federal Republic continues and waxes stronger. This is coming days he was reported to be on the watchlist of the U.S Intelligence for his past connections with global terrorist groups, Al-Qaeda and Taliban. Isa Pantami

Though the minister came out earlier today to renounce his past controversial comments on being a sympathizer of these terrorist groups, alluding to being young and naive when he made most of the radical comments and preachings he made in the past. The minister in his renouncement further noted that he is now more mature and knows better but this hasn’t deterred Tweeps in their calls as they continue to seek for the minister’s removal from government or for his resignation letter.

Some of them also called for the prosecution of the minister, insisting that he should be jailed if found guilty.

Pantami has been under fire lately over comments he allegedly made several years ago in support of Al-Qaeda – an extremist group founded by the late Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. Bin Laden was killed on May 2, 2011, by the US Navy SEALs inside a private residential compound in Pakistan.

Dr Isa PantamiPantami also made comments in support of the Taliban, a Sunni Islamist movement and military organisation in Afghanistan currently waging jihad within the country.

“This jihad is an obligation for every single believer, especially in Nigeria,’’ Pantami was quoted to have said in one of his vicious preachings in the 2000s. “Oh God, give victory to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda,” he was also quoted to have prayed.
