COVID-19: Osun State Govt Shuts Down Schools Indefinitely

The Osun State Government has ordered the indefinite shut down of all schools in the state, directing schools in the state to proceed to its annual Christmas and New Year break starting today, Friday, December 18. Osun State governor Gboyega Oyetola

The Osun State Coordinating Director of Ministry of Education, K. Olaniyan who made the announcement on behalf of the state government, said the decision to shut down both private and public schools was for safety reasons, as there seems to be a recent spike in COVID-19 cases across the country.

He, however, did not announce any resumption date, but said it will be “communicated as soon as it’s safe to resume”.

The statement read;

“The government places a high premium on the safety of our citizens generally and students in particular hence this proactive preventive measure.

“Resumption date will be communicated as soon as it’s safe to resume in the new year.”
