Osun State Governor Extends Lockdown Relaxation By 2 Weeks

Osun State governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has announced the relaxation of the curfew in the state to mitigate the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Osun StateThe governor made this known in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, where he said that the move follows the end of the first two weeks declared on June 5.

We can recall that the earlier scheduled time for the curfew was 6pm. to 6 a.m. whiich was later relaxed and the time adjusted from 9pm. to end at 5am.

According the Gov. Oyetola, this new update gives a 14 days extension to the relaxed curfew.

The Governor is however displeased with the lackadaisical attitude displayed by the residents in the wearing of face masks in public places and other relaxation guidelines.

The information includes the continued closure of worship centres and markets as well as the restriction on interstate travels and any parks, markets or worship centres that fails to adhere to these directives risks a total shut down from the government.

“COVID-19 is real and Osun is not out of the woods yet.

“We have noticed that many of our citizens are brazenly flouting the safety guidelines put in place to curb the spread of the virus in the state.

“The government will not fold its hands while a few people jeopardise the mileage we have recorded so far in this fight.

“It is not yet uhuru and strict enforcement will commence immediately.

“Any worship centre, market or motor park where people do not wear face masks or maintain social distancing will be shut down.”Osun StatePhoto Credit: Twitter
