Following the recent nominations for the Oscars awards, veteran Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade has expressed her disappointment that no African movie was nominated in any category. But lets be frank, has Nollywood truly reached Oscar standard? Okay let’s look at the biggest movies of 2018.
1. King Of Boys:
Alright the cinematography was top notch and the directing was alright but the storyline isn’t really a big deal, and the acting were a little off.
2. Chief Daddy:
This comic movie was just carried by the Falz character, who made us laugh but looking through it, the story was a little bit lukewarm, its not that it isn’t a good movie, i enjoyed it, it’s just isn’t a world class movie
3. Up North:
We loved the effort, we really do appreciate it, it shows that we are going in the right direction, but the story line was just too safe, predictable and so is every movie that has come out of this country in recent times, it’s like we traded our good stories for cinematography.
In my opinion i feel the only movies that deserves and international award such as the Oscars would be, October 1 and 76, This movies were just epic trust me.
