Online Retailer Jumia Set To Streamline Operations After Laying Off 80% Of Its Market Brand Staff

It has been confirmed that Jumia Market formerly known as Kaymu, is shutting down operations. The number of staff members which was 70 has been cut down to 15 in the Jumia brand extension.It has been noted that the engineering team may be the only remaining staff as works are ongoing to reroute traffic to Jumia’s main site. Many of the staffs which were led off were contacted by reporters but they have refused to speak since this predicament has gotten to them badly.Jumia has become a household name since its establishment in Nigeria and there has been limited information coming out from the brand’s top brass regarding this revelation. But the company sent out an email to its buyers saying, “Please note that as of today, Jumia Market will stop operating in order to offer all our buyers one unified e-commerce platform, Jumia!”Photo Credit:Getty
