The final burial of patriotic politician, Late Hon. Surv. Bankole Ogbesetore was full of solemn and emotional moments as inspirational rendition and commendation filled the atmosphere.
The acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Ayedatiwa led the compendium of tribute for the elder statesman emphasising his selfless contribution to the lives of people in Akure North and the entirety of people in Ondo State. He encouraged the people to continue to pursue the core democratic values which Late Hon. Bankole Ogbesetore upheld.
The Vicar-in-charge of The African Church, Nigeria, Ondo Central Missionary Diocese, Ebenezer Parish, Itaogbolu, Ven. O.V. Adejumo (JP), centered his sermon on selfless service, he further said three sets of people cannot forget Late Hon. Surv. Bankole Ogbesetore, those he helped when he was alive, people he was supposed to help but failed to help and the people he will meet when in heaven, he adviced the congregation to live a pleasant life.
Mrs. Bosede Ogbesetore – Adewale, the firstborn of the Late Hon. Bankole Ogbesetore said she was pleased to have been his daughter. She also praised her father for his impact, saying, “As a lovely father he helped me realise why I must love God, my husband, and my children”.
One of the sons -in-law, Ademiju Adewale said his legacy will live on, stating that, ”He really helped my profession, he helped me realise that I have no reason to give up in my chosen path in life”.
Late Hon. Surv. Bankole Ogbesetore was born on 26th October 1959 into the family of Late Mr. & Mrs. Ogbesetore, he attended Saint Paul’s C.A.C. primary school Itaogbolu from 1965 – 1971. Anglican Grammar School, Iju/Itaogbolu 1073 -1978. National Diploma in Land Surveying at Federal School of Surveying Oyo, Oyo state in 1989, Bsc in Surveying/Photogrammetry Enugu State University of Science and Technology 1996. NYSC 1997, Master In Enviromemtal Management Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba, 2007.
He was appointed by the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as a member of OSOPADEC in April 2017. He was appointed a caretaker Chairman of Akure North Local Govt on 14th December 2018. On August 2020, he emerged as Executive Chairman Akure North Local Govt till his death on 11th July 2023.
He was laid to mother earth on Friday 26th July, 2023.
He is survived by his wife, siblings, children and grandchildren.
