Oluwo Of Iwo Served Notice To Personally Appear In-Court

On Friday, March 20th, 2020 a court in Osogbo, Ogun State has ordered that the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi be served with Court papers by any means possible for him to appear in court personally. Oluwo Of Iwo

The order was given Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara telling the Monarch to appear in court personally on April 3 for him to defend himself against the allegations levied against him.
It is reported that the plaintiff Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikrullah Akinropo, had filed a quasi-criminal application, alleging that the Oluwo had assaulted him by punching him in the face during a peace meeting at the office and presence of the Assistant Inspector General of P[olice, AIG Zone 11, on February 14, 2020.

The Plaintiff counsel, Mr Soji Oyetayo, had requested the court to issue a bench warrant against the Oluwo of Iwo so that he could be dragged to the court by the police.
In response to the request the defence counsel, Mr Tiamiyu Adegboyega had objected to the request saying his client was served his court papers just 2 days back and not in person as requested by the law. Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ordered the notice be served to the Monarch personally or in any other alternatives as possible, or the bailiff should paste it at a conspicuous place at his palace in Iwo. The case has been adjourned until April 3rd for the next hearing based on the application.
